Buckeye Ranch Somali Outreach Program

Through the use of Somali-speaking interpreters, they offer culturally focused clinical and case management services for youth and families.  They help with coping with trauma, loss, living in a new country and among a new culture.  Somali families are connected to community resources and this program has 24 hour crisis support and intervention.

Somali Community Association of Ohio (SCAO)

Provides a variety of services for Somali youth and adults.

    • Free adult English (ESOL) classes and after school programs for Somali youth
    • Legal services, including help with immigration problems, landlord-tenant disputes and workplace issues
    • Help with school concerns and personal needs
    • Translation services and job help
    • Housing assistance
    • Family counseling and support to Somali women who are victims of domestic violence
    • Shelter referrals

Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services (ETSS)

Provides several services not only to the Ethiopian community in central Ohio, but also to other immigrants such as African, Asian and Middle Eastern immigrants. Services include after school programs and mentoring, youth leadership opportunities, college preparation and summer programs for youth. They provide ESOL services for adults as well.

Somali Services at The Buckeye Ranch

They provide mental health services to Somali youth (up to age 19), using a culturally sensitive perspective that provides special consideration. They provide counseling, psychiatric care and help with school difficulties. The team is designed to provide culturally specific intervention without the use of interpreters.
