Africentric Personal Development Shop (APDS)

Non-profit behavioral healthcare agency providing alcohol and drug treatment, licensed counseling, domestic violence education and intervention programs, and support services for families affected by addiction. They also offer a summer camp, UCANN Serve and UCANN Lead programs for ages 11-17 to experience mentorship and civic engagement, Urban GEMS science and gardening after-school program for ages 12-19, and awards two scholarships per year for youth ages 17-22 pursuing higher education. Columbus Early Learning Centers (CELC)

Provides high quality early learning so that children are ready for Kindergarten and can achieve school success. CELC Centers are rated 5 Stars in the Step Up to Quality Rating System. They offer a home visiting program as well, which provides free books and toys for families with children ages 16 months through 4 years. They offer center-based care for families with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. CELC also provides expectant parents and parents of newborns support through the Healthy Families America program. Empower Our Youth Foundation

Offers a range of services for kids ages 5-17 to create a positive and nurturing environment for youth. Programs include a literacy and STEM academy, annual fashion and art shows, community give-back projects, social outings, and bullying prevention programs. IMPACT Safety

Teaches personal safety awareness through workshops offered to youth and adults. People learn personal safety skills, how to set boundaries and how to avoid dangerous situations. They also have experience working with people with special needs. Community programs are offered several times per year in various locations. Programs require a fee, but they offer need-based partial scholarships.

The U.S Department of Justice provides the public with access to sex offender data nationwide. The website also has reliable information about sexual abuse/assault, being able to recognize potential warning signs, knowing how to respond and being aware of resources can help. If you have been sexually assaulted, help is available. Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) It’s Not Cool to Be Cruel

This interactive educational program for students in 5th-7th grade deals with the physical and emotional cruelty caused by bullying and violence. Students learn to appreciate differences and build skills for great empathy and compassion. The program travels to various classrooms, youth groups, and organizations. Teachers and group leaders can register online to request the program for a small fee.

NCH Proud Linden Parent
