WESTERN PYSCHIATRIC INSTITUTE AND CLINIC (WPIC)

WPIC is one of the leading university-based mental health facilities in the country. It is part of UPMC and together they have developed a Behavioral Health network, which includes several regional behavioral health affiliates. WPIC specializes in the treatment of multiple disorders including anxiety, eating disorders and addiction. They target several programs to children and adolescents (STAR, COPE) and provided services such as resident treatment (KidSTEP), community-based wraparound and Cactis/Mobile Crisis intervention services.

SERVICES FOR TEENS AT RISK (STAR)
STAR is another programed offered by WPIC Hospital. It specializes in preventing and treating suicidal behaviors, depression, and interpersonal violence in teens. Provides outpatient assessment and services for kids aged 13-18 at risk of suicide as well as post-intervention counseling. They also provide grief counseling groups and suicide survivor counseling as well as outreach into the local community via schools and community organizations.

CENTER FOR OVERCOMING PROBLEM EATING (COPE)
This program is part of the services offered by WPIC and centers on treatment for patients with eating disorders including anorexia and bulimia nervosa at all levels of care. There is a 20 bed inpatient unit for the most seriously ill patient which is run by a multidisciplinary team. There are also Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs which provide structured therapy in a supportive environment without being in a hospital setting and an outpatient clinic used for assessment and extend counseling.
