Reach Out And Read

Reach out and Read is a national non-profit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children in exam rooms across the country. The organization also emphasizes to parents the importance of reading aloud to children to promote children’s developmental skills and success in school.  Thomas Hart Family Practice and the York Hospital community Health Center participate.

York County Libraries – Story times around the County

Libraries throughout York County offer story times for all ages, some even starting at birth. Your child can listen, learn, make crafts and maybe even read to a fuzzy pal. Most story times do require pre-registration, but there is no charge for the story time.  Story time is at 10:00 a.m. on Monday’s throughout the summer starting June 2014.

Registration starts May 31 at the York Fairgrounds. Summer reading club begins in June through August at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.

York County Literacy Council

The York County Literacy Council provides literacy services to adults of York County. Programs include English as a second language, adult reading programs to help improve reading, writing, spelling, book clubs, computer aided classes, and tutoring. Some programs require registration.
