Columbus Public Health (CPH) Resource Lists

These neighborhood resource lists are extremely helpful in finding resources in and around your neighborhood. They provide detailed listings of free and low cost health care, vision care, dental care, prescription help, food pantries, transportation, job help, transportation, pregnancy resources and much more. They are updated frequently and reviewed by the Columbus Public Health social work team. Please note that CPH does not provide direct monetary assistance, but these lists are helpful in finding community agencies that do provide this assistance.

Central Community House

A neighborhood-based community center that serves the near east and near south neighborhoods of Columbus, Ohio. They offer soft skills training, employment assistance, financial education training and emergency housing programs to help access rent or mortgage assistance, food nutrition programs, utility services, health care, parenting workshops and more. Additionally they offer afterschool programs, summer programs, and child care for ages six-weeks through five-years-old.

Columbus Dream Center

A faith-based organization that serves low-income, homeless, and under-served individuals and families. They provide free, routine outpatient health and wellness services through the Mt. Carmel Mobile Medical Coach, hot meals and pre-packed lunches for kids, after school programs, holiday help, and back-to-school supply giveaways. They also have shower and laundry times throughout the week and other supportive services for homeless people. Visit the website for contact information.

Columbus Recreation & Parks Department Free Meal Program (Go Lunch!)

Provides free breakfast and lunch throughout Columbus from June to August, and after-school meals during the school year. Youth ages 1 to 18 and youth with disabilities age 19 to 21 are eligible. Visit the website or call to find summer lunch spots, food pantries or after-school meal locations.

Community Development for All People (CD4AP) & All People’s Fresh Market

This faith-based organization provides free produce, clothing and household items to families in need, affordable housing on the South Side of Columbus, youth development, nutrition education and more. They also have two Fresh Market locations, which have free fresh food 5 days a week. Go online to find out more information about different programs.

Gladden Community House

Is a settlement house located in Franklinton on the near west side of Columbus, Ohio. They provide emergency financial assistance (e.g., rent, utilities, prescriptions, and other critical needs), offers access to a mobile medical unit access from The Breathing Association, and case management services. Provides emergency food assistance to households living within the service area (zip codes 43222, 43223, and 43215). Other services available at the pantry: home delivery to people with disabilities, and diapers are available. They also provide educational services such as preschool, after-school, summer day camp and team sport programming.

Jordan’s Crossing Resource Center

Serves those who are homeless and have a substance use disorder by offering services and resources (like mentoring, food, clothing, documentation/ID assistance, laundry and shower services, a cooling and heating station, and more) and making referrals to other community service providers. Lower Lights Ministries (LLM)

A faith-based organization that serves individuals, families and Franklinton community members. They offer transitional housing for previously incarcerated women, low-income families and individuals, and females with substance use disorders. They also provide free meals, finance, employment, education, life coaching, hair and beauty salon services, as well as host a summer day camp, offer homework help and mentoring for at-risk youth ages 7-17.

Mid-Ohio Farmacy

Links patients to healthy foods needed to manage and improve health. They provide weekly access to fresh produce at participating locations in Franklin County, Ross County and Pickaway County.
