Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners

Owned by Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics, Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners is a non-profit organization and the only provider-owned Medicaid managed care organization in Kansas or Missouri. Low-cost or no-cost health care coverage is provided through contracts with the State of Missouri MO HealthNet program and the State of Kansas HealthWave program.

HealthNet (Missouri)

MO HealthNet for Kids, part of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), is a health insurance program for uninsured children of low-income families who do not have access to affordable health insurance. Uninsured children, ages birth to 19, whose gross family income is up to 300% of the federal poverty level are eligible.

Children will receive all medically-necessary services including: primary, acute and preventive care; hospital care; sports physicals; physical, occupational and speech therapy; dental; home and community-based services such as nursing and personal care; medical equipment and supplies; pharmacy; vision care; lab and x-ray; and behavioral services such as outpatient counseling and inpatient psychiatric treatment.

Based on income, some participants will be required to pay monthly premiums. Families will pay no more than 5% of their annual income for premiums in a year. If out-of pocket expenses reach the 5% limit, the family will not have to pay the premium for the rest of the year.

Healthwave (Kansas)

HealthWave 21 is part of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) created for uninsured children ages 0 – 19 living in households with income levels at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

HealthWave provides a one-page application allowing families with children the opportunity to apply and see which program they may qualify for; HealthWave 21 or HealthWave 19 (Medicaid). The application process is easy and there is no cost to apply. The HealthWave Clearinghouse provides a toll-free Customer Service Center to answer questions and provide assistance with the application.

Supplemental Security Income

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues. It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income. In addition, it provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
