Children’s Mercy Hospital Car Seat Program
Nearly 80% of child safety seats are incorrectly installed, leading to thousands of preventable injuries each year. The best seat for your child is one that fits the child and fits the car and one that the child rides in each and every time.
The Car Seat Program Information
On-site child safety inspections by appointment Monday and Tuesday afternoons
- Parent’s/Caregivers may call the Nurse Information Line 816-234-3700 and the staff will make an appointment.
- Parents/caregivers may e-mail Phyllis Larimore plarimore@cmh.edufor an ‘off-site’ inspection (satellite clinic location).
Families need to bring child, child safety seat, and manufacture instructions for car seat and vehicle. They should park in the Garage, come to the reception desk and request that Phyllis Larimore, Beeper number 816-821-8099 be notified of their arrival. The inspection will include a safety check of the child safety seat: ‘recall’ status; review of its crash history, missing or broken parts, date of manufacture and the ‘fit’ of the child.
