CityParks Foundation is dedicated to invigorating and transforming parks into dynamic, vibrant centers of urban life through sports, arts, community building, and education programs for all New Yorkers. Programs are located in more than 400 parks, recreation centers, and public schools across New York City.

Middle schoolers can participate in the CityParks Afterschool programs by registering until March 1st, 2021. Two programs are available (Greens Girl & Coastal Classroom). Read the programs’ details below.

GREEN GIRL BY ING AFTERSCHOOL
The CityParks Green Girls Empowered by ING After School program is an environmental science club that will engage middle school girls throughout the school year in fun-filled weekly online adventures about New York City’s parks and waterways, encouraging them to realize their potential to create change within the natural environment.

This spring’s program will feature hands-on, at-home science experiments like water-quality testing, virtual trips to the earth’s atmosphere and underwater to study the effects of climate change, and interactive group activities. Using their local parks as a basis, Green Girls explore topics like climate change, street trees, careers in the sciences, and how to advocate for their parks and futures.
