The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 21 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.
Participants can earn money based on their attendance and participation. SYEP lasts six weeks from July to August. All applications to internships programs opened March 1st, 2022 and the deadline is May 6, 2022. Click on application.nycsyep.com for the application page.
Programs
— SYEP Younger Youth (14-15 years old): Activities will take place for 12.5 hours a week for six weeks in July and August and participants will receive up to a $700 stipend based on their attendance and participation.
— SYEP Older Youth (16-21 years old): Youth will earn the New York State minimum wage of $15.00 an hour and may work up to 25 hours per week for six weeks in July and August.
Eligibility
— Young people 14-21 can explore various career paths through various paid-summer jobs throughout NYC.
— Must reside within the five boroughs of New York City.
— Be legally allowed to work in the United States.
How to Apply
To apply to the program you can do one of the following:
— Visit the website application.nycsyep.com and follow the links to fill out the application online or download a paper copy. Application deadline is May 6, 2022
— Paper applications can also be obtained from one of the community based organizations or providers operating the program. — Youth can be selected to the program via two options, through a lottery or direct recruitment by an SYEP provider to specialized programming.
— If selected by the lottery you will be contacted via the email address and/or phone number.
— Participants are paid weekly with a debit card or with Direct Deposit to a bank account of their choice.

The Saltz Internship Program is an education and employment program for high school students 14 years old and up. Interns facilitate science conversations using artifacts, specimens, models, and scientific tools on mobile stations throughout the museum and at dioramas and displays in museum halls with museum visitors.
Interns receive a $900 stipend for the duration of the summer internship (July-August), Metrocards, tickets to visit special exhibitions at the museum, opportunities to attend career and college workshops, and more.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Saltz Internship Program currently is on pause for 2022 sessions. We encourage you to look at the website in Fall 2022 for updates on the Saltz Internship Program.
Eligibility
► Live in New York City and/or Attend High School in New York City.
► Be at least 14 years old by the start of the program and be a current Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Met offers undergraduate and graduate students paid internships that would help them gain professional experience and explore museum careers in the arts. In the internship, students have the opportunity to learn about public engagement practices and develop or lead tours with the public.
Eligibility
Open to current
► Undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors
► Recent undergraduate graduates from a bachelor’s or associate’s program
► Master’s-level graduate students
► First- and second-year PhD students. Those who will have qualified as Ph.D. candidates by the time the internship starts are not eligible, but should apply to The Met’s Fellowship Program.
Note: Individuals must have completed their undergraduate or master’s degrees no more than one year prior to the application deadline. Current first-year students are not eligible to apply for this internship, but may apply for a part-time internship.

Dates and Compensation
► July 6 – August 12, 2022.
► Full time: five days, thirty-five hours per week.
► Compensation: $17 per hour, plus $1,500 toward housing/travel to New York City (less applicable taxes and deductions).
► Met interns commit to being fully present and onsite for the duration of the internship. They are not permitted to take courses or hold additional jobs or internships that coincide with their scheduled Met internship work hours.
