Nurse-Family Partnerhip (serving all boroughs)
Call 311 and ask for “Nurse-Family Partnership”
Maternal and child health nurses are the backbone of the Nurse-Family Partnership.
A nurse-led maternal health and home visitation program, Nurse-Family Partnership partners serve low-income, first-time moms.
Moms with their very own free Nurse-Family Partnership personal nurse will get the support, advice, and information they need during their pregnancy and when their baby arrives.
Your nurse will support you to:
-Know what to expect during pregnancy and childbirth.
-Learn how to take care of your baby (feeding, bathing, safe sleep, and more).
-Understand how babies learn and grow.
-Connect with other resources and services, like health insurance, mental health care, child care and educational programs.
-Achieve personal goals, such as continuing your education and developing job skills.
-Give your baby the best possible start to life.
To qualify for their free services you must be a first-time mom that is pregnant 28 weeks or less, but your nurse would love to work with you as early in your pregnancy as possible. There is also an income eligibility requirement. Learn about eligibility criteria by calling your nearest NFP agency. Locate your agency on the NFP homepage.
The nursing program is available to first-time mothers regardless of age, immigration status or gender identity.
Room to Grow is a 3-year program that provides low-income families with one-to-one parenting coaching and support. This includes discussing developmental stages, offering strategies to recognize and respond to their child’s many needs, and providing resources and support to help cope with raising a child in typically stressful circumstances. At every visit, parents also receive age-appropriate material necessities, allowing them to provide fully for their baby in an immediate and meaningful way.
If you are pregnant (no more than 36 weeks along) and you would like to learn more about parenting & helping your baby develop, consider applying to Room to Grow. Call (212) 620-7800 for more information.
