DHS Education Support Center (ESC)

– Works with the School District to prevent disruptions to a child’s education when they are placed in DHS care
–  ESC liaisons can help with academic problems, attendance/truancy, transportation to/from school, support for children with special education needs. Call (215) 683-4001 or

Anyone can make the referral, but permission to evaluate must come from the education decision maker (biological parent, another EDM, etc., not the foster/resource parent). Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline

Children’s Crisis Treatment Center

Provides outpatient mental health services for children 2-13 who have been abused, neglected or who have witnessed extreme violence- Programs include: Therapeutic Nursery Program for children 3-5 yrs. old with emotional, behavioral, and multiple learning problems. Community Based Services like WRAP Around services and Intensive Case Management- Trauma Assistance Program for children who have experienced a severely traumatic event- 215-496-0707

Hospital Based Child Protection Services

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children’s Child Protection Clinic at Front and Erie helps minimize the potential for further trauma from abuse by completing the medical evaluation and providing psychosocial support for the affected child and family. Call 215-427-6869 for information. Click for link

RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network)
