After school programs exist in 75% of schools in the Pittsburgh School District. They are managed by school staff as well as school community collaboratives that include teachers, parents, and community agency personnel. These programs include academic tutoring and enrichment, clubs, athletics, social skill development and peer leadership. There are between three and twenty different programs at sites that provide after school programs.

The Center for Creative Play is a non-profit organization located in Pittsburgh, PA. The Center provides a welcoming, parent-supervised, inclusive play space for children of all abilities. We have hundreds of activities and programs for people of all ages and interests. We offer day care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, Kindergarten and after-school programs for grades K-6; summer day camps and overnight camp; exercise, fitness and wellness classes; indoor swimming pools; music and dance classes; and special interest classes for adults of all ages.

CHSC currently offers an After School Program and a Summer Camp to the youth of South Oakland and the Lower Hill areas for K-8th grade.We have established the following core program areas for our After School and Summer Programs; academic support and achievement, recreational activities, technological competency, cultural enrichment, healthy lifestyles/nutrition, cultural competency, life skills, social skills, and volunteerism/community service. Our programs offer a variety of activities including homework and literacy supports, daily reading, computers, field trips, arts and crafts, music, cooking, recreation and games.
