PARENT-TEEN CONFLICT PROGRAM

The Parent-Teen Conflict Program provides support for parents, pre-teens, and teens including parent education, support groups, and referral to additional programs depending on the needs of the family.

PINE-RICHLAND YOUTH CENTER

Computer access to the Internet, dance, open gym, Twae Kwon Do, sports leagues, mentoring, and tutoring are offered. Programs for children with special needs are on an as needed basis; parental involvement is encouraged. Fall and winter hours: 9:00am-10:00pm, weekdays; 9:00am-4:00pm, Saturday; 9:00am-5:00pm, Sunday. Fees: vary by program; scholarships are available.

PREGNANT AND PARENTING TEEN OUTREACH

This comprehensive program promotes success, strengthens families and decreases infant mortality and subsequen pregnancy rates among teen mothers. Outreach workers provide home visits, psychosocial support, prenatal and parenting education, and support groups for all involved, including teen fathers and parents of teens.

TEEN DROP-IN CENTER

The Teen Center (for middle and high school grades) focuses on recreational activities including sports and games. There is opportunity for homework help. A game room and student lounge, pool table, soccer football, hockey football, shuffleboard, chess, checkers, board games, magazines, books, television, and VCR are available. When funding becomes available, a computer lab will be opened. Hours: Monday – Thursday, 3:00pm-5:30pm; Friday, 3:00pm-6:30pm; with volunteer help, the hours of operation will increase. The Teen Center serves the Steel Valley and West Mifflin school districts. Serviced by the Salvation Army.

THE OPEN DOOR YOUTH PROGRAM – CRAFTON

Before and after-school programs for children and teenagers. Includes a soccer program (Monday, 4:00pm-5:15pm), running club (Tuesday, 5:30pm-6:30pm), breakfast program (Wednesday 7:00am-8:00am), dance classes (Wednesday 5:00pm-7:00pm), kids club (Wednesday 4:00pm-6:00pm), basketball (Thursday 7:00pm-9:00pm), Friday Night Rec (Friday 6:00pm-10:00pm, Homework Helpers (call for info), and a summer day camp. URBAN YOUTH ACTION, INC

This program prepares youth in grades 9th through 12th to graduate from high school Work Ready, Life Prepared and Community Minded.
