Respite Care

Respite Care of San Antonio
Respite Care is a series of services and programs administered by professionally trained caregivers in multiple locations throughout San Antonio. Programs are for the child with special needs, as well as siblings. These include a full-service child daycare, Mother’s Day & Family Day Out programs, and Parents Night Out programs. “A Special Time a Special Place” allows family members to bring their child/loved one with a disability and his/her siblings to the school building at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. For children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP) / Respite Program
A monthly program during the non-summer months that provides an opportunity for a child to experience a camping experience. Counselors and qualified medical personnel will care for children in a multipurpose, heated/cooled facility at Camp CAMP located 10 miles southeast of Kerrville, Texas.

Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP)
Provides a variety of services that allow individuals under age 21 to live at home and avoid nursing facility placement. Provides respite care, adjunct support services, minor home modifications, adaptive aids and transition assistance services. Individuals eligible for MDCP also receive services through the State Medicaid Program. There is an interest list.

2-1-1 Texas is a program of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission that provides a registry of resources and services by zip code.  It is committed to helping Texas citizens connect with the services and resources they need.

Simply dialing the 2-1-1 Texas/United Way Help Line, calls are answered by trained volunteers and staff with a database of community resources at their fingertips. If you or someone you know needs: Food, Clothing, Health care, Employment, Child care, Elder care, Utility/rent assistance, Counseling/mental health, Adult literacy, Drug treatment, or many other services. 2-1-1 Texas/United Way Help Line is a public/private partnership between the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.
