Active interaction between children and their parents is critically important to stimulating healthy brain development from infancy through adolescence.
All it Takes is H.E.A.R.T. (Hug, Engage, Ask, Read, Talk), a partnership of the American Osteopathic Association and Erikson Institute, is designed to guide parents as they support early learning and development for their children.
The initiative promotes the following actions: HUG – Your child feels loved each time you embrace; ENGAGE – Simple interactions with your child can make a big difference; ASK – You can stimulate your child’s curiosity by asking questions; READ – Reading helps improve vocabulary; TALK – When you speak, your child will try to copy your sounds.
