Cribs for Kids’ is a safe-sleep education program for low-income families to help reduce the risk of injury and death of infants due to unsafe sleep environments.
Cribs for Kids’ currently has 250 Partner Programs in 42 states throughout the country which provide a GRACO Pack N Play’ crib and educational materials regarding ‘safe sleeping’ and other important safety tips to protect your baby. Since 1998, through the donation of thousands of cribs, Cribs for Kids’ has been making an impact on the rates of babies dying of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and accidental suffocation.
While educational materials are available to everyone, cribs are distributed based on need. Families will be referred by a physician, nurse, social worker, or case worker.

The concept of the injury prevention program was introduced in 2000 with a vision that Delaware’s diverse population would be empowered to reduce their risks for injuries by valuing safe choices. The Centers for Disease Control National Center for Injury Prevention and Control awarded the Office of Emergency Medical Services with a federal grant in 2001. Delaware was one of twenty-eight states participating in the Core States Injury Surveillance and Prevention Program. At present, the Delaware Office of Emergency Medical Services plays a key role in the advancement of injury prevention in the state. We are committed to actualizing our vision and mission for injury prevention and for serving Delaware’s diverse population. We encourage partnerships and collaborative relationships working together through the Delaware Coalition for Injury Prevention to achieve a common goal and support our EMS providers in their injury prevention outreach efforts.
