The goal of Safe Kids is to enhance childhood injury prevention programs by empowering families and communities to create safe environments in care, on bikes and at home. Resources for families, schools, churches, youth groups include materials on: Safe Kids Buckle Up, Safe Kids Ready to Roll for bike safety, Home Safety in regard to falls, choking, poisoning, and fires to educate on home hazard prevention. This service also does child passenger safety seat check-ups. They also work with medical assistance for car seat purchases.

YORK COUNTY CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES

Purpose: To provide child welfare services designed to keep children in their own homes, prevent neglect, abuse and exploitation, help overcome problems that result in dependency, neglect, and delinquency; and to provide in foster family homes and child caring institutions adequate substitute care for any child in need of such care due to abuse or neglect. Services are available to children 0-18 years of age who reside in York County. This Agency’s mission is to promote and protect the health and welfare of children. The focus is to keep families together through preventive services. When placement does occur, the goal is to reunite the child with the family as effectively and timely as possible.

Cribs for Kids is a national program started in 1998 to provide safe sleep education and donation of Graco Pack’n’Play portable cribs. Education including “Back is Best” and safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
