PACT Ohia Domestic Violence Shelter
The Ohia Shelter located in Windward Oahu is a 24-hour shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. The shelter provides individual and group meetings, personal development classes, and refers victims for legal, health, and housing assistance, and financial resources. The shelter also provides women support groups that empower adults with the dynamics of the cycle of abuse, power and control, effective communication, dealing with anger, anger management, the effects of abuse on children, self-esteem, developing healthy relationships, child development and effective parenting skills. The advocates at the shelter work closely with the residents on safety planning and individualized service plans, and also accompany residents to court appointments to provide support and assistance to them. Safe Haven
For persons who are homeless and have mental illness Safe Haven offers outreach, medical and psychiatric care, case management, 24-hour residential services, and social rehabilitation activities. Mental Health Kokua and Kalihi-Palama Health Center work collaboratively in operating this unique project in Downtown Honolulu. Located at 41 S Beretania Street in Honolulu. Please contact 524-7233.
