The Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provides high school students with hands-on experience in laboratory techniques. Students conduct independent research projects and attend enriching training sessions and tours designed to support their interest in the clinical side of translational research and fuel their curiosity for science.
 
Eligibility
Completion of at least the 9th grade by June 2022
•Must be 14 or older by June 28, 2022
•A genuine interest in science and laboratory research
•3.5 GPA in science subjects
•Two letters of recommendation
•Eight-week commitment to the program
 
How to Apply
Visit sam.mskcc.org, start the application and submit required documentation. Applications have closed for the summer. Check back in winter 2022-2023.
 
Application Documentation
• Resumé
• Copy of school transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
• Signed 8 week commitment letter by parent and student
• 2 letters of recommendation (at least 1 must be from a scientific or mathematic advisor/teacher). Letters must speak of student’s previous scientific experience in lab and knowledge of biological
concepts, as well as his or her commitment to education and discovery.
