The Childfind Program is a way for residents of Delaware to have their children screened for developmental delays, such as a speech problem or a fine motor problem. The evaluations and treatment are of high quality, administered through school districts, and they are free for Delaware families.
If your child has passed the 3rd birthday, you may call your school district to set up a free evaluation.

Delaware Early Childcare Center provides preschoolers with the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and a foundation for future success as they continue through school. They also offer professional development for those who provide early care and education programs throughout the state.
DECC serves more than 800 preschool children, ages birth to five years and their families throughout the state. DECC provides needed services and programs that ensure their success in those critical early years.

All Counties: Early Intervention Programs

The Early Intervention Program provides services for young children (0-3 years) who have or are at risk for developmental delays. Early Intervention promotes health and stability of the child and family through early identification and prompt intervention. Services include case management to monitor the childs progress. Most referrals go through Child Development Watch. The Division of Developmental Disabilities Services also provides some respite funds for children who qualify for services from the Division.

Head Start works to support the development of a comprehensive early childhood system, birth through the early primary years, works with families, early care and education programs, schools and communities to develop children who are physically and emotionally healthy and eager to learn.

All Counties: K-5 Early Intervention Program

Participation in this program is for children attending Kindergarten through fifth grade and their families. The K-5 Early Intervention Program addresses issues within the home that affect performance in the classroom. The goal is to enable families to support the social and academic growth and the healthy development of children so they may attain positive outcomes in school. These services include play therapy, support groups, conflict resolution and social skills workshops.
