New York District Attorney’s High School Internship Program

The New York District Attorney Internship Program is a robust internship that offers students residing hands-on experience with the Criminal Justice System. Interns help Assistant District Attorneys and other staff members in their work, attend presentations and trips, and also participate in a mock trial.
 
Eligibility
— Applicants must live in Manhattan or attend school in Manhattan (no exceptions will be made).
— Applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school at the time they apply (current freshmen may not apply).
 
Dates and Compensation
— Applicants must commit to attending one of the two available 4-week internship sessions
Virtual Session 1: July 5-29, 2022.
Virtual Session 2: August 1-26, 2022.
— Interns will participate virtually Monday – Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm with the possibility of in-person opportunities contingent upon COVID-19.
— The internship is virtual and may not offer compensation, contact highschoolinternship@dany.nyc.gov for more info.
 
How to Apply
The application opens January 31, 2022. The deadline to apply is March 18, 2022, at 5:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time). Applicants must attach the following:
— A one-page resume.
— A 300-word essay describing your interest in criminal justice (for example, you may submit an essay discussing what “one standard of justice for all” means to you).
