How to Book an Appointment
The easiest way to book an appointment is by going to nyc.gov/Talkmoney. Clients will be required to create a Financial Empowerment Portal account. To book over the phone, either call 311 or to be in contact to financial counseling directly call: 212-487-4583. Each counseling session is 1 hour long. Most of the session are remote/over the phone, but there are some in-person sessions.
People can receive counseling as many times as they like, however, since the counselors want to allocate their time fairly, it’s asked not to book appointments back to back.
The most important information/documents to bring is a record of monthly income and monthly expenses. Additionally, if someone is having a specific financial issue, like a difficulty with their credit card account, they can bring in the documentation for that concern.
