Boys & Girls Club of Rockford
Boys&Girls Club offers many education/tutoring programs for youth in the Rockford area including, “Character and Leadership Development”, “Education and Career Development”, “Health and Life Skills”, “The Arts” and “Sports, Fitness and Recreation.” Affordable to all youth. Teen REACH
Teen REACH provides FREE academic tutoring, cultural exposure, adult mentoring, fun field trips and recreation for youth ages 11 to 14 (6th to 8th grade). Teen REACH is an after school program held at West Middle School and St. Elizabeth Community Center.

Youth in Action
Youth in Action is a program for boys and girls entering grades 6-9. the program promotes community service, leadership, and friendship. Program meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday 9-11:30am to complete community service projects. On Fridays, students attend fun-filled trips to various locations. The program is FREE of charge. Learn to Earn

Substance abuse treatment programs for adolescents age 13-18, with some exceptions for 12 and 19 year olds. Professional counselors, psychiatrist on staff for co-occuring disorders, recreational therapy, teachers provide academic lessons during week. Youth Services Network, Inc
Serves youth ages 0-21. YSN addresses mental health and trauma issues by providing counseling, intensive case management, mentoring, tutoring, transportation, and recreation in order to reduce the impact of abuse and life stressors on children and families. YSN also promotes cooperation among social service agencies by providing wrap-around services to children in Winnebago and Boone counties. 24-hour on-call system for emergencies, such as youth who have run away from home, youth who are locked out by their parents, or youth who are homeless. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, truancy, and neglect are the areas of specialty. Licensed social workers, licensed counselors, and licensed marriage&family therapists. No fee to clients. 8am-4:30pm daily, with varied evening hours.

Children’s Home and Aid of Illinois
Provides family centered counseling services for children and parents, including those involved in the child welfare system and foster care/adoption situations. These counseling services help improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families and maximize the family well-being and academic achievement of these children. Also provides pregnancy and early parent counseling and support. Other services include adoption and foster care services, early childhood care (MotherHouse Crisis Nursery for ages 0-6) and education, residential services, and youth services. Lutheran Social Services
Provides adoption services, foster care crisis intervention and counseling, pregnancy and parenting counseling/support services, and youth programs. The Adoption Preservation Program is open to all families with adopted children under the age of 18 and provides a stipend for hourly or overnight respite care. Parents must identify their own respite provider. Youth programs include tutoring and mentoring of children in K-8 in the RockfordPublicSchool District. No fees. LYDIA Home Association- Rockford
Lydia Home Association offers “Safe Families for Children” which assists families during times of crisis such as unemployment, eviction or homelessness, family medical crisis, pregnant teens, post partum depression, etc., preventing the need for children to be placed in foster care by offering temporary placement. MELD
MELD provides programs for young mothers and fathers (through 21 years of age) and their children through our MELD Moms & MELD Dads parenting and support groups. The groups meet weekly at local churches and in local high schools. Volunteers provide childcare and healthy snacks to ensure that these families are able to take advantage of our services. Families come together to discuss parenting issues and to share ideas with each other. Life skills, job skills training, GED tutoring and assistance in completing education, career planning and guidance, pre-employment workshops, and employment opportunities and job placement services provided in addition to parenting information and support/resources services. Also provides Transitional Living Program and an emergency shelter known as Trinity House (see separate entries).

Rockford MELD – Transitional Living Program
MELD Transitional Living Program provides case management and housing to pregnant or parenting young women. Easter Seals – Teen Family Support Program
The Teen Family Support program serves English speaking first-time pregnant and parenting mothers who reside in Winnebago County. Teen mothers must be 19 years of age or younger and pregnant or parenting a baby under 2 weeks old at the time of referral. Services provided include; home visitation, doula support, prenatal group, parenting group, and infant mental health counseling services. Our services promote healthy and stable families through the development of strong parent/child relationships and increased parenting skills.

La Voz Latina
La Voz Latina is a non-profit resource center serving Latino clients of all ages. Offers multiple services/programs including: a home visit program for pregnant Latina teens (call La Voz directly in Boone County, WCHD in Winnebago); prenatal and parenting classes; afterschool tutoring and mentor programs; family support services; bilingual parent/child literacy classes; English as a second language classes; adult education & job placement classes including consumer education workshops, small business classes, and employment workshops in partnership with area businesses and institution; scholarships; community development programs; orientation/advocacy/assistance for immigrants/refugees including applicable public benefits; citizenship classes; medical and legal translation; interpretation; information and referral assistance; and Spanish classes for professionals.
