Project 440 teaches high school students to use their interest in music to forge new pathways for themselves and ignite change in their communities. Project 440’s after school programs are offered in the fall and spring semesters and include Instruments for Success: focused on College Preparedness and Career Pathways and Doing Good: emphasizing social entrepreneurship and community service. Alumni of Project 440 programs can also participate in the Youth Advocacy Council. Fleisher Art Memorial’s Teen Lounge is a FREE, drop-in afterschool program for students ages 13-19 focused on the visual arts. With guidance from Fleisher’s Teen Lounge Monitor, teens develop their own creative program by choosing teaching artists with whom they wish to work.
Projects are often collaborative and rely on a strong group dynamic, allowing teens to explore media ranging from clay, painting, and silkscreen to stop motion animation and darkroom photography.
